What does being a responsible business mean to you?

The business community has frameworks that we’ve all come across, ESG considerations, (environmental, social, and corporate governance), a CSR focus (corporate social responsibility), but what do they mean on a practical level, where are the smart targets? If we don’t know what good looks like, can we have confidence in proclaiming that we’re a good business?

Thankfully, the Good Business Charter is here to channel our good intentions and hopefully yours! They recognise responsible business practices with an accreditation pathway that takes a holistic, measurable view of good business.

It assesses behaviour over ten components; real living wage, fairer hours and contracts, employee wellbeing, employee representation, equality, diversity and inclusion, environmental responsibility, paying fair tax, commitment to customers, ethical sourcing and prompt payment.

The Charter is an initiative developed and overseen by the Good Business Foundation, an independent charity established by entrepreneur Julian Richer. Working with organisations including the Trades Union Congress, Institute of Directors and Federation of Small Business, they have set a benchmark for responsible business practice, which is accessible to all.

We are delighted to join the Good Business Charter. We developed an affinity with their mission and values as our design agency oodle developed creative collateral to help spread the word. We’ve applied our heads and hearts to create two explainer animations, and design assets for their Good Business Week on February 5th-11th.
