The print & mailing of garden waste labels for bin collections

Systematic is delighted to hold contracts with several local authorities, for print and mailing services that support garden waste subscriptions recycling schemes.

Growing numbers of people are finding that gardening is great for their mental well-being, providing a connection to nature, as well as a sense of purpose and creative expression. There’s also a lot of fulfilment to be had from eating the fruits, or vegetables, of your labour! The garden waste recycling schemes provided by the public sector support this activity, and we’re here to support the public sector! We aim to make the processes associated with gaining and managing green waste subscriptions as easy and efficient as possible.

The approach that we take to each brief and contract is bespoke, we have a lot of flexibility within our specialisms of graphic design, print and mailing.

An integrated print and mailing solution

Our involvement often starts with the issue of a piece of marketing print, such as a postcard, to promote the launch of subscriptions. Our Graphic Design Team can support the development of artwork, or we can check supplied artwork by proofreading text, ensuring that brand guidelines are adhered to and that the design is print ready. We arrange to safely receive data from our local authority clients, although mailings fall outside GDPR regulations when no recipient is named alongside address details. We use password protected SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) to facilitate data transfer, ensuring data is maintained in a secure area at all times, before being destroyed after an agreed period of time.

There’s more to green bin garden waste labels than you’d think…

As residents subscribe to their local scheme, we prepare their associated welcome pack. This will include a self-adhesive vinyl bin label, which serves as a license for the scheme. Labels are colourfully branded to the local authority and can be personalised with the property address, which may include a unique property reference number.

The specification of the labels we use ensure that residents can easily detach them from their backing. Once attached to a bin, the print and adhesive will withstand more than a year outdoors. They are lightfast, weather and tamper resistant. Packs typically include an introductory letter personalised with address details, so that it can then be inserted into a generically printed window envelope. We have also included printed collection calendars that are variable across different postcode areas.

When demand is variable, our support is flexible

Large volumes of welcome packs are issued at the annual launch of each scheme, with weekly datafiles sent thereafter. Our processes have the flexibility to accommodate variable batch quantities, whilst ensuring that packs are produced and despatched within contractually agreed timescales. Due to the volume of mailings that we issue and our ability to mailsort letters, our clients benefit from preferential mailing rates too.

Peace of mind guaranteed

Our clients often choose to agree a fixed pack price, which is charged on a monthly basis as our work progresses. By using barcode technology in our processes, we maintain a live log of despatches so that our clients benefit from regular updates and reports. They also have access to a designated Account Manager within our team, with other contact points for contingency. Sounds easy doesn’t it? We aim to make it feel easy too, it’s all part of our mission to help our clients win business and do business.

The integrity of our approach is acknowledged by our ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 accreditations. This type of project is just one of the many integrated print and mailing projects that we handle each working day. If you have a brief in mind and need a specialist team to delegate it to, we’d be very happy to chat!
