A box of promotional tricks

This promotional product trend needs to be on your radar; impactful, flexible and easy to implement, with a little Systematic support.

We are talking about promotional gift boxes, practical, functional, made-to-last items produced to reflect your brand and message before being sustainably packaged in a bespoke box and mailed if you like.

Make branded products even more personal

When selecting products that best suit your industry and contacts, you can take personalisation one step further by reflecting your contacts’ names on the product. Individual personalisation starts with you supplying a spreadsheet of names, which is blended with your branded artwork as items are produced. This is a popular approach with drinkware, notebooks and folders in particular.

The steps to creating your promotional boxes

  1. We’ll support your choice of product or products for your promotional gift boxes, whether lifestyle items, homeware or travel options and products suited to an office, or home office environment. We can assure you of a quality range of options; beyond that, your selection will reflect what you want to achieve from the campaign, the characteristics of your recipients and the budget you have available to invest.
  2. Our Studio team can work with your brand guidelines to develop artwork in the required format, (artwork can be supplied if you have your own creative contacts). We’ll offer advice on the decoration technique, colour options and print areas, to ensure that products are unique and brand consistent.
  3. Individual personalisation can be selected if you like, perhaps for one feature item in your promotional gift box.
  4. You have the option to enhance the sustainable packaging around individual products with a bespoke sleeve, or through gift wrapping with one of several paper designs.
  5. We’ll select a box size appropriate to the planned contents, there are lots of options.
  6. Artwork is submitted for the outer of your box to make it fully branded and bespoke. If you prefer, there are a number of generic designs that can be used or adapted to include your logo. Boxes have a white base colour, solid colour printing is not recommended, yet your design will be printed in full colour across the entire outer surface area.
  7. A personal touch can be added with a message in the form of a postcard or letter, printed with your artwork in full colour.
  8. We can fulfil additional items that you already have into boxes if required, there is just a small fulfilment charge. We’ll need to know the details of any inserted items early on in the project, as it will impact on the selected box size.
  9. Ready-made boxes can be delivered to you in bulk or issued directly to the individual addresses of their lucky recipients. A packaging slip with a personalised header can be included.

The applications for promotional gift boxes

We saw an uplift in the promotional gift box projects that we handle during the Covid pandemic. They took the form of letterbox gifting, as recipients were even reluctant to meet and greet a delivery person at their door! Their application has evolved further, examples include;

Welcome boxes

Attracting and retaining top talent in your team is tough at the minute, especially if new recruits start their role from home. Welcome boxes make an instant impact, getting a colleague engaging with the brand of the business they work for as part of the onboarding experience. They’re also the basis of great social media posts! Popular welcome box items include technology, such as wireless chargers and powerbanks, reusable water bottles, bound notebooks and pens, and outerwear. Bodywarmers, fleeces and soft-shell jackets make great corporate accessories for Teams and Zoom calls when embroidered with a logo.

Customer retention strategies

Marketing data repeatedly highlights how much more cost and time efficient it is to retain an existing customer than find a new one! Promotional boxes can certainly provide a platform for upsell, cross-sell and re-engagement campaigns. Gifts need to be tailored to the industry of the business and the characteristics of its typical customers. The commonality is that the branded products will be practical and made to last, the more they are used, the more brand impressions are gained.

Prospect follow-ups

Converting leads can be tough, particularly when your prospects have some much digital noise in their lives! Emails are easily deleted. Sending your prospects something physical in the post can provide a great legacy for your brand. Whilst this could seem like a costly next step, think about the potential lifetime value of a new customer, i.e. what revenue they could add to your business over the length of time that you consider them a customer. We can also account for most budgets in promotional gift box projects, given the wide range of products available.

Seasonal gifting

There are certain times in the year when you want to reach out to your key contacts and let them know how much you appreciate their support. These can be busy times of the year! Promotional gift boxes are a ready-made solution to several jobs on your to-do list. Start by thinking about your budget for each box, your distribution strategy and when you’d like boxes to be received. It is never too early to start planning a project, time is the basis of the most creative artwork and the most considered project.
