2020 colour trend alert

News from the Pantone Colour Institute

The international authority on colour have recently announced the pantone colour of the year for 2020! Cue drum roll… it’s 19-4052, more commonly known as Classic Blue. This is a timeless blue, elegant in its simplicity. It’s said to “instill calm, confidence and connection.” (Good to hear as is close to Systematic blue!)

The Institute’s selection process involves looking for colour influences from across the world, in our lifestyles and through technological development. It’s about picking up on trends and the emotions that colour evokes.

What does that mean for you, we hear you ask! Well, the colour of the year filters through into product development and high street trends. Your audience may be subliminally tuned into it for 2020, so it’s a useful power to harness in your creative projects.

We work with their colour framework everyday here at Systematic, to generate creative ideas and harmonise brand designs, using its psychology and emotion to create impact. As for Classic Blue, the Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute says it “encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication”, which above and beyond colour, sounds like a productive mindset for us to start 2020 with!
